The tree is vigorous and for a normal growth fertile, deep and light soils are required. Codrene variety is characterized by a good resistance to frost, supporting up to minus 35 degrees Celsius. As well, it has a high resistance to pests.

The buds appear 4-5 days later, compared to other trees varieties with a medium flowering. Female flowers blossom in late April or early May. Flowering type is protogynous, with a difference of 1-4 days. Female flowers appear when the buds are not completely unfolded, which protects them from spring frosts.

Walnuts production is plentiful and regularly. Kernels are large, well caught in shells and with relatively smooth surface. The kernels are extracted entirely or by half’s and have an attractive appearance.
